Girls Day Out 29/5/2014

It was long since the three of us(Me, Vivian and Amy) met and we decided to head out for a lunch date at this Japanese restaurant. I suggested this place and they just followed my suggestion as they have not been here before.

So here we are, Akatsuki Anime restaurant. And just to mention I did all the ordering.

It's lunch time featuring the ramen. Slurp.

Check out this huge bowl!!!!! *Angle problem only HAHA. Actually it's not that big.

Because it was lunch time, they offer set lunch at a much cheaper price. This special ramen set at RM14.90 comes with two side dishes, potato salad and kimchi plus complementary green tea.
The ramen was quite nice although cannot be compared to Pavilion Tokyo Street's ones. This was certainly one of the best ramen in Sibu. The portion was huge and we had to share.

Spot the tofu dish. Only two pieces left as we were too hungry to snap a picture before eating. The tofu was a bit crispy on the outside and soft inside. Dipped in japanese soy sauce, the flavour was brought out.

Meet Amy.

This was also our set lunch which was BBQ meat. This was chicken+beef set. Served with miso soup and rice plus complementary green tea. The meat was marinated and seasoned properly and was grilled to perfection. That was cabbage in the middle. However, the miso soup was a disappointment.
RM13.90 for this.

Vivian and the ramen.

This meal costed us RM32.80. Still reasonable for we were stuffed after gobbling down everything. The interior design is special with lots of anime stuffs.

Check out their Facebook Page by clicking on the link.

Blackball
After shopping our time off and trying on heels, we managed to haul some cosmetics. I needed it for dinner nights. Grin. I will make a post about the skin care and cosmetics I use soon. Stay tuned.
So it was burning hot and we agreed to some cooling desserts. Off to Blackball we go.

Banana flavoured waffles with two scoops of ice-cream, RM5.50. Nice as always. This was the reason I frequently visit this place.

Blackball Signature, RM7.50. The weather was so hot that the ice melted just as we started eating. Man :(((

Taobao Shopping

I just switched to a new phone not long ago which was April so I decided to find nice covers for my phone. As all the blogshops sell them at a high and ridiculous price,  I decided to opt for taobao instead.

So here are my hauls.

Sakura a.k.a cherry blossom case, about RM18

This was my best purchase, costing only RM5.
Chanel nail polish cover. RM22
Here's the link for the item.

Chanel Boy cover with strap. RM12

The products are up to satisfactory level considering it's dirt cheap price. I would definitely shop with taobao again.

Sportsmanship

After witnessing a nerve wrecking Thomas Cup competition last night, I had mixed feelings.
Japanese team rejoiced for they made their mark in the badminton world by creating history, capturing their first ever title.
However, Malaysia team was in despair for they came so close to winning.

Some people may feel angry, frustrated and infuriated by our national team's loss. But guys, can you set aside your fury and give praise to those players who fought hard for our pride? Being an athlete is a hard job. You have to be strong emotionally, physically and mentally. It is hard to have to live up to expectations every time. Winning and losing are both part of the game. Sometime you win sometimes you lose.

Instead of blaming them for their lacking of skills and unforced errors, why not look at their fighting spirit and great determination? Nobody wants to lose. Everyone wants a taste of victory. They are under immense pressure, expected by everyone to deliver. They fought hard, showed their unwavering spirit and gritted their teeth to the last second. They did their best and we must give them our salutations and a big round of applause. Imagine yourself in their shoes. It will definitely be a tall order. It was an uphill battle for the Malaysian team but they showed great sportsmanship and undying willpower. What is more to ask for?

Japan really did prove that they have the skills to win it. They beat traditional powerhouse China. We should also show our highest respect to them, for putting up a good fight and giving a great show. They truly deserved to be crowned champion.

The thing is we feel frustrated because we are so close yet so far to winning. That is our greatest setback. You can see success lingering so near in front of you yet you cannot reach far enough to grab it. This is so frustrating. It was also something I experienced before. So close, yet so far.

Indeed, we did not win but we should hold our heads up high. Malaysians united to support our nation, working hand in hand to make our country proud and cheering for each other without discrimination despite cultural differences. That was a great thing to witness.

Losing does not mean you lose everything. Us Malaysians still can beam with pride for our nation's achievement.

Mitch Albom | First Phone Call from Heaven

“Fear is how you lose your life . . . a little bit at a time. . . . What we give to fear, we take away from . . . faith.”- First Phone Call From Heaven, Mitch Albom

Have you read any of Mitch Albom's book yet?? If not, immediately go and buy one or download from the web!!!

His books are all very touching yet full of lessons. They are like classics which you can read over and over again.

The setting of this story is at a small town in Michigan, whose residence started receiving phone calls from their deceased love ones in heaven. And this caused a hoax among the rest of the world.
This is just my personal opinion. I personally think that this book is not as good as all of his previous works. This is still OK but not that impressive. He is Mitch Albom. I expected something spectacular from him.

Here is a song suggestion.

ALL I WANT by KODALINE

This song is so so nice. I guess I am quite obsessed with TFIOS lately.

Two Person's Getaway- KL

Here I am having a dose of positive energy and thoughts that I much needed by reading THE SECRET. Sometimes, I just need this type of input to feel wonderful throughout my day.

Now, back to the main point of this post. I wanted to share about my trip to KL during January early this year with my BFF, Vivian. It was actually a last minute trip as we stumbled upon cheap tickets online. Costed us RM100++ to and fro which was a good deal. Both of us decided to have a getaway as we just finished our dreadful SPM not long ago. We went without our parents. YES! Just the two of us.

I want to apologise as I lost quite a lot of my photos. I only have 40++ photos left from my few hundred. Sigh, sometimes I do regret changing phones and transferring stuffs. But the good new is, most of my food photos are still here!!! HURRAY!! So this post will be mainly about the food we had in KL.

ALERT: THIS IS GOING TO BE LONG!

At the departure hall of Sibu Airport waiting for our flight but still not forgetting to take selfies.

We stayed at Sun Inn which is just beside Sunway Pyramid. The price was very reasonable. Only RM80 per night but it's budget so you cannot complain much.
SUN INN Click here for more info.

Here you can see how crazy we were. We just stormed into Sunway Pyramid at 7.30am in the morning as we could not catch a good sleep. It was such a great experience. We snapped as many photos as we wanted as all of the stores were not open yet and there wasn't any people there to judge. HAHA.

This was our crazy and absolutely insane shopping haul for the first and second day. Actually, half were food while the other half were clothing.

In front of star hill Gallery.

All of these were taken in Pavilion. Ahh, those cute line characters!!

This is a colour changing fountain. So gorgeous. We actually spent lots of time just standing in front of the fountain and staring at its changing colour.

In superheroes shop!!

Ralph Lauren!

Now here comes the FOOD!!
1. Manhattan Fish Market
We dined at The Manhattan Fish Market for our first meal there. We ordered a seafood plater(2nd in the picture) and shared it because of its huge portion. This dish and a drink costed us a whopping RM50. OMG. Dies.
Location: Sunway Pyramid

2. Din Tai Feng
Third to fifth pictures were the food we had there. The pork chop with fried rice was spectacular. Crispy pork chop but not too oily with a seafood fried rice certainly did stimulated our taste buds. The xiao long pau is juicy and the soup was oozing into your mouth when you bite into them.
Location: Midvalley
Our fried rice.

3.  Secret Recipe
Vivian's Spaghetti Bolognaise. I ordered a lag sane which tasted super amazing and we also ordered a Sheperd's Pie. Sorry no pics.
Location: Sungei Wang

4. Hui Lau San
This is their signature mango dish we had. Most of the dessets they serve involves mango. So mango lovers, be sure to have a try.
Location: Pavilion

5.Tony Romas
Our iced lemon tea.

Mojo chicken. There were two big pieces of chicken breasts which some sauce. Sorry, I could not exactly remember how it tasted but I can tell you it was so good. You would not feel any dryness of the chicken at all although breasts were used. It was juicy and with the sauce and rice perfect. There was quite a funny incident which happened when we were finding the location of this restaurant. I vividly remembered it was on the first floor of Pavilion during my first visit but when we asked the security guard on duty he told us that it is on the sixth floor. Oh Well.
Location: Pavilion

6.Starbucks
My caramel latte.

We shared a piece of the apple sandwich. I had Caramel Latte while Vivian had Americano.

Location: SS15, near Taylor's College

7. Meet Fresh

Probably there are lots of outlets that serve Taiwanese desserts now but this is a must try. Just look at the amount of taro and sweet potato balls they give. OMG. I love the chewy feeling as it gave me a satisfactory feeling after I ate them. Large portion and reasonable price. Actually, I also wanted to try Snowflake but I could not find the shop even though I followed the directory. Bad luck.
Location: Times Square

8.Wong Kok

The menu is so nice!!

Complementary drinks, soup and dessert that came with our meals as we ordered set lunch.

My noodles.

Fried dumpling. The dumplings were great but overall the food was mediocre. But the price was very cheap, costed only RM10 for a set lunch which includes you main dish, drinks, soup and fruits.
Location: One Utama

8. Moo Cow Frozen Yoghurt
This was the best frozen yoghurt I ever had. The thickness of the yoghurt and the way it melt in your mouth. Heavenly. I actually prefer Moo Cow over Tutti Frutti. But both of us love to binge so we also ate Tuitti Frutti and New Zealand's Natural Ice Cream.
Location: Sunway Pyramid

9.Madam Kwan

As we heard that this restaurant, located at the highest floor of KLCC, was famous for its nasi lemak, we immediately knew that we need to give it a try. So here it is, the renowned Madam Kwan Nasi Lemak which sucked our money. Haha. RM18++ for this dish. The taste was so-so to me and I could have gotten a nicer dish at a cheaper price elsewhere like at Pappua Rich. However, this restaurant was so popular that it was full house on that day and we had to queue to get a seat.
Location: KLCC

10. TGIF
My Tachos

The food here was amazing!!! Especially loved my tacos. It was my first time trying one and I love it.
Location: Sunway Pyramid

KLCC

We also visited Aquaria just to look at sea creatures. My second time there and boy when did it become that small?? Sigh. LOL. We did hollered inside for 2 hours capturing everything we could with our phone cameras. The workers there were also kind enough to help us take this photo.

After visiting Aquaria, we decided to have a stroll in the park outdoors. Of course we remembered to take pictures in front of the landmark of our country. See how tiny I was in front of the gigantic twin towers.

Chinese New Year decorations everywhere during our visit.

Hope this post will give you some idea where to dine when you visit kl the next time. And I want to apologise once again for the low quality photos. All pics were taken by my Samsung Galaxy Note.
